The US military is looking to modernize its satellites with new and upgraded equipment.
As the US prepares to launch its newest military satellite, the Air Force is developing a new type of satellite that is smaller and lighter than the older versions, and has higher capacity to provide broadband internet access.
However, it is still not yet clear which satellite internet equipment will be included in the program, and the Air National Guard (Air National Guard Air Force) said in a statement that they did not have an official position on the matter.
“We are still working through the process of selecting the best equipment for our new satellite,” said Maj. Christopher Williams, an Air National Guardsman in charge of satellite internet programs.
“At this time, we do not have any definitive position on what equipment will receive this contract.
As always, we will take a close look at any specific requirements before we commit to a new contract.”
“The Air Force’s Space-Based Infrared Satellite Program is the primary means of transmitting and receiving signals from our satellites and other space assets to the U.S. military, including the United States,” Williams said.
“This program has proven to be extremely versatile, enabling a wide range of missions and functions.”
According to Air National Corps (Air Force) spokesperson Major Adam C. Smith, there are currently four satellites that have been selected for this contract: – A-36, the second satellite in the Airborne Laser Interferometer Mission, or ALIM mission, which will carry a 5-kilogram (11.6 pound) payload.
The A-34 mission, launched in 2014, carried a 2.5 kilogram (7 pound) spacecraft, and is scheduled to launch in 2019.
– The Airborne Infrared Mapping and Remote Sensing Satellite, or IRMS, which is a smaller satellite designed to be used as a ground-based mapping and remote sensing satellite.
The Air National Air Guard has two other satellites that are under consideration: The Advanced High Performance Antenna (AHA), which is slated to launch as a small satellite, and an Advanced Satellite Technology (ASST) mission that is also slated to fly in 2019 and 2021.
All three of these missions are scheduled to carry up to 40 kilograms of payload and will be used for monitoring, positioning and communications purposes.
With these three satellites, the AHA mission will be the largest satellite to ever be launched into space, and will carry up a 2,500-kilometer (1,500 mile) diameter antenna.
The ASST mission is the smallest satellite to fly into orbit, and carries a 400-kilometers (200-mile) diameter satellite.
The AHA, AHA-2, and ASST will all carry a 2-meter diameter (5-foot) diameter, 5-meter long, 1-meter thick aluminum antenna.
In order to achieve these high capacity satellites, an upgrade is necessary for the spacecrafts hardware.
“[The upgraded] satellite will use the same payload as the A-35 mission, but with the added capability of an additional 500-kilograms of payload capacity,” said Williams.
Although the new satellite will be able to carry a greater amount of data, the new hardware will not allow the ABA to collect data directly from the spacecraft, instead relying on the ASST satellite for remote sensing.
Additionally, the satellites will not be able use the Air Command Network, the ground-to-orbit network that is used to transmit satellite data from ground to satellites, because the AFA does not have a high-capacity network for the network.
However, the upgrade will be necessary to avoid an electromagnetic pulse attack.
As part of the ABI, the USAF will also be upgrading the communications system on the AMA-18A satellite.
According to Williams, the upgrades will allow the satellite to communicate with other satellites and to increase the capacity of the antennas, which are the primary components of the spacecraft.
ABA officials said in their statement that the new equipment will allow for an upgrade that will not require replacing the spacecraft with the ACA-18D.
Williams said that there will also now be upgrades to the satellite network on the mission, and that the AOA will also use the upgraded satellites for a number of other missions, including reconnaissance and space surveillance.
This upgrade will also allow for a significant reduction in the cost of the satellite, because it will be cheaper to upgrade the spacecraft to the new standard than to upgrade its existing hardware.
“In addition to the cost savings, the upgraded AMA 18A satellite will provide a significantly more reliable and more reliable communications network to the AAF and to the US Air Force and other Air Force satellite communications satellites,” said Major Smith.
When the AABs new mission is launched, the space agency will be adding the capability of providing broadband internet service to the air forces missions, the military said in the statement.
